The Dean made the appointments based on the recommendations of a search committee chaired by Al O’Brien, former Deputy Provincial Treasurer, Marcia Nelson, Deputy Minister, Alberta Housing and Urban Affairs and Douglas West, Chair, Department of Economics. “I am extremely pleased at the quality of the individuals the Institute has been able to attract to build capacity in policy research,” commented Bob Ascah, Director of the Institute.
The External Advisory Committee will assist the Institute by identifying:
1) emerging public policy issues;
2) public policy issues that are not being explored but that are relevant and require investigation;
3) topics for conferences and seminars that the Institute would organize;
4) fundraising strategies for individual events and of an ongoing nature;
5) partnership opportunities within the University community or outside the University; and
6) any other matters that the EAC believes to be in the interests of the Institute and the University.
